Destination of a Jiva
What happens to a jiva based on what they did as sadhana and whether they achieved Self-realisation?
If body is alive after Self-realisation -
If body is cast away at Self-realisation -
योगभ्रष्टः - in the path of jnana but did not reach the goal
Not enough
No desire at all - Liberation at death -
A little desire left - Brahmaloka -
No desire at all except to be with Saguna Brahma: Brahmaloka (सालोक्य, सामीप्य, सारुप्य, सायुज्य - each higher than the other) until the end of Brahma-ji’s life, then will be dissolved into Prakriti but born again with new Brahma-ji in the next creation cycle (सम्भूत्युपासना, असम्भूत्युपासना)
A few selfish desires - will become धार्मिक-सकाम-उपासक (see the next one below)
कर्म - pitrloka, svargaloka - then return to mortal world once कर्मफल is over.
कर्म + उपासना - maharloka, janaloka, tapaloka, brahmaloka - then return to mortal world once the उपासनाफल is over.
मिश्रित-पाप-पुण्य-कर्म - मनुष्य-जन्म based on last thought during death (यथाश्रुतम्) and कर्म done in that life (यथाकर्म)
अधार्मिक-सकाम-जनः - lower states of plants or animals or lower worlds below bhuloka.
